HotlineTV: Is Rudy Really Running?

February 6, 2007, 4:39pm

Hotline editor Chuck Todd, a colleague of mine at National Journal, has kindly agreed to let me feature the video content his team creates almost every day.

The daily snapshots of the HotlineTV show are available to anyone at YouTube, but now they will be conveniently webcast here at AirCongress, along with the rest of the audio and video content produced of, by and about Congress. I’m excited about having a recurring political segment for visitors to see, and if you miss any episodes, you can see them all in the new HotlineTV category for the site.

Today, Todd and Hotline senior editor John Mercurio debate whether former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is serious about running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

Mercurio has his doubts: “There’s a track record here. He ran for the Senate in 2000. He got into the race for all intents and purposes and then got out.”

But Todd said all of the small signs point to a Giuliani run: “Rudy has been doing little things every day to look more and more like a candidate, and this is yet another little thing. … He’s doing as many things as Mitt Romney.”
