A Balanced Budget Without Tax Hikes

President Bush met with his Cabinet members today as the White House released its budget proposal for fiscal 2008. He said the budget can be balanced in five years without raising taxes.

Rob Portman, the director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, held a press briefing about the budget. He discussed the budget’s plan for reining in “the unsustainable growth in entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.”
